The Materials Genome Initiative is a federal multi-agency initiative for discovering, manufacturing, and deploying advanced materials twice as fast and at a fraction of the cost compared to traditional methods. The initiative creates policy, resources, and infrastructure to support U.S. institutions in the adoption of methods for accelerating materials development.
All research projects in the NSF sponsored MADE in SC Statewide project are aligned with the Materials Genome Initiative (MGI) using the MGI Framework and representative MGI Databases identified by the project team. This training, offered within the MADE in SC Track-1 award, provides resources in various areas to extend learning of data and materials science.
Scholars (students and post docs) who complete any five modules will get a certificate from MADE in SC that they have successfully completed the MGI training of MADE in SC.
MADE in SC will lead to high impact discoveries and have a significant translational impact on SC educational institutions, playing a critical role in the economic growth and vitality of the state and nation, and positioning MADE in SC among the most capable academic organizations for materials research in the world. MADE in SC will discover and develop new intelligently designed:
